The Brew Group Failed to Initialize or Return to Home Position
Possible Faulty Parts:
Fix:
The Brew Group is experiencing difficulties moving fluidly and cannot initialize, complete the cycle or return the home position due to worn, swollen or broken Piston Gaskets. Also, coffee residue accumulates in all areas of the Brew Group prohibiting its movement.
Refurbish Brew Group by cleaning, replacing all seals and lubricating, or replace the Brew Group.
The Encoder (secured on the Gear Motor) is defective. Most often, the plastic tabs that fit onto the Gear Motor break, causing the Encoder to become loose. This weakens the connection, resulting in miscommunication with the CPU.
Visually inspect the Encoder and wires to Encoder for damage/corrosion. Replace Encoder.
If the Gear Motor is emitting a low buzzing noise, or sounds like it is struggling during operation, the Gear Motor may not be operating at the full 12V needed. Also, the gear on the Gear Motor may become worn, prohibiting it from making full contact with the Drive Shaft. This will produce a loud grinding noise.
Replace Gear Motor.
If the Brew Group Gear Motor does not move (machine is clicking instead), then the transformer or PCB is defective. (The transformer increases or decreases the voltage of an alternating current).
Replace transformer. Replace the PCB; however, it is more economical to buy a new or refurbished machine.
